Was watching da table tennis semis today...da one where Li Jiawei played against that Korean what's-her-name. I can't be bothered.

Dun get me wrong; I'm not prejudiced against Koreans or anything. But it is a fact that the Korean paddler was super irritating lah. I think they should just ban players from shouting and yelling during matches. It's so totally annoying and distracting! Which, by the way, I think was her main reason for doing so.

So aniwaes, back to da match. Okies lah, it was really stressing to watch it. For me, anyway. I just couldn't take it lor...imagine, even as a TV audience I was already freaking out over every single point won or lost...imagine wad's it like to be Jiawei? I really applaud her manz...having to keep her cool while being burdened with da pressure of having to bring back a medal for S'pore blah blah...not to mention her noisy opponent!

Okies, so I was pretty disappointed when she lost. I mean, she was really so close lor. Just another point or 2 and she would have secured a place in da finals...it's only natural to feel disappointed. I can only imagine her disappointment. She looked like she was about to cry sia. Not that I wouldn't. Oh wells.

It's fine to want her to win a medal and bring S'pore glory after 44 years without a medal yada yada...we all know the storyline. After all, didn't da same thing happen 4 years ago at Sydney? But while I can share everyone's anxious hopes, I think it's hypocritical at da same time, really. Esp. when they rub salt into the wound. Like just now, I was having dinner out when I saw da Lianhe Wanbao headlines. It read sth along da lines of how Jiawei was almost da winner but still ended up defeated kinda thing. True as it may be, I really think it could have been written in a better way. At least, more tactful. Sometimes I really can't stand to read da news reports and articles and watch the news regarding all these..they're, like, so....fake. Okies, so maybe it doesn;'t apply to all. But nevertheless. It's almost as if the players are only worth mentioning when they win sth or wadeva. When they crash out, they're forgotten after awhile when the hype goes down. Fine, so it's human nature to react this way, some may say. But that doesn't make it right.

If Jiawei doesn't win tml's bronze medal playoff, I think she's gonna be more than just upset. Really. Even if she plays supremely well, there's always this 'but' somewhere. I pity her sometimes, I really do. I dun even know why S'pore's so freaking desperate for a medal. Some things just can't be rushed. The harder you try to push for it, the more it eludes you. As the saying goes, what's meant to be yours will ultimately be yours, or sth along those lines. It's really pointless to out so much pressure on her and pin all our hopes on her to win a medal. Yes, winning a medal is impt and will signal a leap for S'pore, but it's not da ultimate most impt thing we have to achieve or sth wad.

If I were Jiawei, I wouldn't wanna be so burdened lor. It's enough to have pressure coming from coaches and teammates blah blah...including herself...what more an entire nation? Plus da Korean's tactic of distraction..whether on purpose or not, it was distracting nonetheless.

Aiyah, whatever lah. It's over and I cant be bothered le. Such things won't ever change. Even if she were to bring back a medal tml, it wun change things. 4 years later and many more Olympics and competitions later, da same thing will just repeat itself. Maybe we should just all accept da fact that S'pore is not China or USA and will never be, so why dun we just leave it at that? Cheer all you want, support all you want, but draw da line at putting pressure k. If you were her, I doubt you'd want that. too.

I feel like I've been yakking rubbish this entire entry. Oh wells. Whatever lah. My point is made. I just couldn't quite stand da attitude of some pple.

Aniwaes, hope Jiawei will win tml! Even if not for S'pore, at least for herself. =)

I'm so tired!

Had napfa 5 items today...and surprisingly, I think perhaps this time I really can get a gold! Heh. Something I;ve been wanting for damn long le...every year at least got 1 item standing btwn me and da gold...so exasperating! But this time I dunno how I managed to do it. Get all Cs and above for my 5 items today...yays! *smiles* And all these despite my fractured tailbone...I'm still rather shocked actually. Lol. But of course got price to pay lah. Back starting to hurt all over again...*bleah*

Haven't blogged for about a week as usual; da olympics have started! Heh. Michael Phelps rocks! Woohoo! Lol.

Xtina even set up a fanclub site...after we formed da MPC...Michael Phelps Club! This is super farnie...I'm not totally obsessed over him; I think he's a zai swimmer and kinda cute! Okies lah, maybe not that cute...sorry Xtina! Dun kill me if you see this! I think Pieter van den Hoogenband is pretty cute too! And oso a really good swimer! Okies fine, so I sound repetitive. Heh.

Damn...da time difference btwn S'pore and Greece is annoying me. Because of that, most events, in fact, almost all, are shown live after midnight lah. Given da kind of parents I have, even if it's hols, there's no way I can watch lor. Bleah. And I hate this! Cos' I wanna watch da olympics! Argh. But bo pian I guess. Can only rely on verbal and news reports da next day...hai. >_<

Okies I'm tired. Definitely shagged. And tml I'm gonna be aching like mad lah...hai. Effects of napfa. *bleah* Shall go offline soon and catch up on slp...I'm starting to look like a panda! *looks at Joan* Lol! But luckily panda quite cute so nvm. Not that I'm saying Joan's cute! Heh. =p

Okies pple goodnight! =)
